Nourished includes five built-in nutrient groups: fruits, vegetables, proteins, grains, and dairy. Foods can contribute to one or more groups. Their classification may come from food data, tags, compatibility data, recipes, or inference, so examples are not guaranteed to have the same classification in every modpack.

⚡ Quick Reference

Group Default penalty below 25%
🍎 Fruits Unluck
🥦 Vegetables Slowness
🥩 Proteins Mining Fatigue
🌾 Grains Weakness
🥛 Dairy None

These are Nourished's default effects. Settings and datapacks can change nutrient definitions, thresholds, and effects.

The Five Groups

🍎 Fruits

The fruits group covers fruit and fruit-based foods as classified by Nourished's data and installed mods.

Default low-level penalty: Unluck, when the fruits level is below 25%.

🥦 Vegetables

The vegetables group covers vegetables and vegetable-based foods as classified by Nourished's data and installed mods.

Default low-level penalty: Slowness, when the vegetables level is below 25%.

🥩 Proteins

The proteins group covers protein sources as classified by Nourished's data and installed mods.

Default low-level penalty: Mining Fatigue, when the proteins level is below 25%.

🌾 Grains

The grains group covers grains and grain-based foods as classified by Nourished's data and installed mods.

Default low-level penalty: Weakness, when the grains level is below 25%.

🥛 Dairy

The dairy group covers dairy foods as classified by Nourished's data and installed mods.

Default low-level penalty: None. Dairy still has its own nutrient bar and contributes to nutrition balance.

❤️ Balance Bonus

By default, Nourished grants Health Boost I and Regeneration I while every registered nutrient is above 75%. With the five built-in groups and no additional nutrients registered, that means all five groups must be above 75%.

The bonus ends when any registered nutrient falls to or below the threshold. The threshold and effects can be customized.

🥣 Foods with Multiple Nutrients

Some foods may contribute to multiple nutrient groups. Nourished can use tags and compatibility data, and may infer classifications from item names and recipes. Prepared foods can inherit classifications from recipe ingredients when recipe inheritance is enabled.

These methods are intended to improve coverage, but inferred classifications are not a guarantee of a food's intended nutritional meaning. Datapacks can provide or correct classifications. See Datapack Support and Community Tags.
