Nourished adds a nutrition system to Minecraft. Eat a variety of foods to keep your nutrient levels up and earn balance bonuses. Let a nutrient get too low and its configured penalty can take effect.
Requirements
| Minecraft | 1.21.1 |
| Mod Loader | NeoForge 21.1.x |
| MariesLib | 0.1.1-beta.5 or later (required) |
| Cloth Config | Required |
| Patchouli | Optional; adds the in-game guide |
| Java | 21 |
Installation
- Download Nourished and MariesLib from Modrinth.
- Place both mod jars in your
mods/folder. Most launchers can install required dependencies automatically. - Launch Minecraft. Nourished creates its configuration files on first run.
How It Works
Nourished includes five core nutrient groups:
| Group | Default low-level penalty |
|---|---|
| ๐พ Grains | Weakness |
| ๐ฅฆ Vegetables | Slowness |
| ๐ฅฉ Proteins | Mining Fatigue |
| ๐ Fruits | Unluck |
| ๐ฅ Dairy | None |
By default, all five nutrient groups contribute to your balance. When every nutrient is above 75%, Nourished grants Health Boost and Regeneration. The default low-level penalties begin below 25%; Dairy has no penalty by default.
These effects and thresholds can be changed through Nourished's configuration and datapack support.
The HUD
Nourished displays nutrient bars while you play. Press H (default key) to enter HUD edit mode and reposition or resize the HUD. You can change the keybind in Minecraft's Controls settings.
The Diet Screen
Press N (default key) to open the Diet Screen. It shows your nutrient levels and provides additional information such as balance, recent meals, and active effects. You can also open it with the Nourished button in your inventory when that button is enabled.
The Diet Screen keybind can be changed in Minecraft's Controls settings.
Mod Compatibility
Nourished automatically classifies many foods from vanilla and other mods. It uses available food data, tags, compatibility data, and inference from item names and recipes. Recipe-based inference can help classify prepared foods, but it may not always match a mod author's intended nutrition.
If an item is missing or classified incorrectly, use a datapack or appropriate food tags to provide or correct its classification. See Datapack Support and Community Tags.
