Classification & Diagnostics

Priority: Low Status: Open

CLS-017 — Create Food Classification Trace

Investigate and improve diagnostic visibility for unexpected ingredient/classification contributions.

Example:

createfood:chorus_fruit_ice_cream_sandwich

Current runtime classification:

  • Protein: 0.33

  • Fruits: 0.26

  • Grains: 0.41

The final classification is acceptable and does not represent a player-facing bug. The goal is to make unexpected results easier to understand and diagnose.

Future improvement

Add ingredient-level attribution to ClassificationTrace.

Example:

  • Milk → +0.20 protein

  • Chorus fruit → +0.XX fruit

  • Flour → +0.XX grains

This would make classification debugging significantly easier for modpack authors and Nourished development.

Planned

Technical Cleanup

Nourished-specific refactors will be scheduled when they provide a concrete benefit to development or users.

4 items
  • Split NourishedConfigScreen.java

  • Remove remaining legacy configuration paths as Dynamic UI replaces them

  • Continue separating stable and experimental APIs where appropriate

  • Remove Classic UI after the Dynamic UI transition is complete

Known backlog

Known issues and deferred work not yet assigned to a release.

  • high /nourished validate duplicate registration paths
  • high Reload re-registration gap for TrackerRegistry / ColorDefinitionRegistry
  • high Placeable foods not contributing nutrition
  • high Synthetic Recipe Resolver
  • medium Full-edge resize for Activity Log HUD panel
  • medium Additional datapack loader improvements
  • medium Nutrition history/trend UI
  • low Patchouli book missing icons / formatting issues
  • low baked_potato stray vegetable classification
  • low Additional classification diagnostics

Long-term direction

Nourished's long-term goal is to provide a fully data-driven diet system that can be adapted to different modpacks without requiring custom Java code.

The Dynamic UI and in-game editors are the foundation for that direction. Once the 0.2.7 editor overhaul is complete, future releases can focus primarily on expanding nutrition gameplay, modules, integrations, and datapack capabilities rather than rebuilding configuration infrastructure.

MariesLib

Latest: 0.1.2-beta

Marie's-Lib is the shared foundation behind my mods. It provides reusable systems for data resolution, tracking, synchronization, configuration, compatibility, validation, diagnostics, commands, and dynamic UI.

This road-map describes the major capabilities Marie's-Lib is being built toward. Individual bugs, refactors, and implementation tasks are tracked separately in GitHub issues.

  • Registry-driven UI regions and slots

  • Shared HUD editing infrastructure

  • Dynamic configuration screens

  • Color and appearance customization

  • Remove mod-specific assumptions from shared systems

  • Establish clearer stable, experimental, and internal boundaries

  • Keep architecture documentation aligned with the implementation

0/5
  • Retrofit Thin Air: ReLived onto AttachedValueSync

  • Test tracking and synchronization in additional Marie mods

  • Improve third-party mod discovery

  • Expand reusable compatibility hooks

  • Remove hardcoded mod-specific assumptions where possible

Planned

Documentation

  • Maintain API.md

  • Maintain ARCHITECTURE.md

  • Keep CHANGELOG.md current

  • Document stable vs. experimental APIs

  • Add developer examples for major systems

  • Document datapack schemas and loaders

Long-term direction

Marie's Lib should become the reusable infrastructure layer that mods and eventually third-party mods, can depend on for:

  • Source classification without hand-written heuristics

  • Player tracking without custom save, sync, or decay systems

  • Compatibility without hardcoded mod IDs

  • Datapack tooling with schemas and validation

  • Multiplayer-safe synchronization

  • Dynamic in-game configuration and editing

  • Runtime diagnostics and crash investigation

  • Compiler-style validation and developer tooling

The overall direction is:

Discover → Resolve → Validate → Track → Synchronize → Configure → Diagnose

MariesLib provides the infrastructure; individual mods provide the gameplay.
